Sunglasses

Sunwear is important. By age 18, children typically receive half of their lifetime sun exposure, and children under 8 receive most of the damaging and harmful ultraviolet-light radiation for their lifetimes. Wearing hats and being under stroller canopies are helpful, but UV-absorbing lenses are essential for full eye protection.

Dark glasses can increase the risk of UV damage to eyes because dark lenses cause eye pupils to dilate, allowing more harmful rays to enter the eyes than if no lenses are worn.

Polarized lenses are very helpful. They not only block out visible light and UV radiation but also block glare. Polarized light that bounces off water, glass, and car hoods can be filtered to improve vision and add a margin of safety to driving or catching a fly ball.

Trusted brands offer the best materials and design to ensure quality construction and durability of your children’s eyewear.

Computer Use and Children's Vision
